Review: The artstyle is so refreshing and cute <3
Valerie was intent on becoming a genius mage but her teach basically told her 'L+mid+a tiger will eat you' so she decides to be normal. However she becomes engaged to Duke Kylus Dwello, who is very much not normal. He's even got a friendship going with an isekai'd woman who Valerie mistakes for Kylus' lover, creating a refreshing misunderstanding of 'oh this is his girlfriend, I should make her feel comfortable.'
Another cute misunderstanding is how Kylus is convinced until the very final chapter that Valeria has a secret younger sibling??? Extremely cute how determined he is to 'save' and 'protect' this secret child. He's a very good ML.
I really appreciated how the unrequited love/second ML was able to resolve his feelings neatly but not in a way that's giving therapy speak, you know what I mean? It's always annoying when a character sounds like they know what tumblr is, but Edwin feels both introspective and not overly aware.
Something about expressions being relatively reserved and held back really got to me with this one. Not only is the style engaging and draws you in, the characterization gripped me by the shoulders like this:
